Welcome to "My Shiba Inu"

u.1.home-page1.jpgMy Shiba Inu is a website about my life and experiences with my Shiba Inu. Within the site I will be providing information about the joys, trials and tribulations of becoming a dog owner. Along the way I will be detailing our story, highlighting mistakes I have made the hurdles we have had to overcome and hopefully helping you to ensure that you are able avoid the issues we have experienced. I readily admit that although we have had issues to contend with I am in no way an expert on the Japanese Shiba Inu or even dogs in general which has played a large part in the mistakes I have made which I am hoping to help you avoid. I have however been fortunate enough to make a number of friends who have a wide ranging wealth of experience as Japanese Shiba Inu owners and breeders many of whom I am hoping will be happy to pass on their knowledge so that the site can provide a wide range of information, help and support based upon years of cumulative experience.

Shiba Inus are widely reported as being very different in temperament to other breeds and you should be aware of their traits before buying and ensure that they are compatible with what you expect from your dog and right for your lifestyle.

Once you have satisfied yourself that a Japanese Shiba Inu is the right dog for you you need to select the right breeder and we will be providing a list of do's and dont's when selecting that breeder. I hope to help you to make the right choices when selecting your breeder because believe me they arent all what they seem to be on the surface, hopefully a few pointers will help you select the good from the bad when sourcing your Shiba Inu Breeder.

Kennel Club Registration, all dogs are entitled to be registered with the Kennel Club under one category or another and while a Kennel Club Registration Certificate may not always seem important when initially purchasing your new friend I will be highlighting a number of reasons why it should be important to you and the assumptions you shouldnt make on the strength of the registration.

We will be providing lots of information on the site and welcome the input of everyone who has, does, or is looking to own a Japanese Shiba Inu or any other breed.

In the meantime if you are looking to purchase a new puppy we would advise taking a look at the RSPCA's puppy pack , any responsible breeder should be happy to go through it with you, providing all the answers to the questions we should all ask when buying a new puppy. Download your copy here...
